We asked Toyin for Clues
Something that catalyzed your growth - besides working hard?
My faith is a strong guiding compass for me, and it keeps me going. Also, knowing there is more that can be attained, I refuse to settle!
Something you're most proud of?
Organizing the inaugural ThrivingAsACanadianImmigrant (TAACI) Conference stretched me outside of my comfort zone. It’s a dream I carried for about three years, but when I finally committed, the entire event came to life in just four months. It was incredibly fulfilling to see it all come together. Seeing immigrant professionals leave inspired, equipped, and connected made every moment and effort worthwhile.
On Reinvention
I had a thriving and promising career as a Project Manager in my home country, when the opportunity to relocate to Canada surfaced. Moving with a young family meant stepping away from familiarity and rebuilding in a completely new environment. While I prepared to transition smoothly, the reality required resilience, reinvention, and persistence.
Nearly ten years later, that decision has shaped a new chapter of growth. I’ve built a rewarding consulting career, partnered with clients to deliver meaningful transformation, and supported many immigrant professionals in navigating their own journeys to thrive in Canada.
To reinvent yourself is choosing growth even when the path ahead is uncertain. It’s being willing to step away from what’s familiar, learn new ways of doing things, and trust that your past experiences still matter. Reinvention isn’t starting over, it’s evolving into the next version of who you’re meant to be.
Note to everyone considering a pivot:
"You have a lot of value, let it show. Don’t let fear or uncertainty convince you to play small. Growth often requires stepping into unfamiliar spaces, but your experiences, skills, and perspective matter. Keep taking the step, no matter how seemingly small."
Worth Remembering
You already possess value; you are not starting from zero.
